Thematic Lead for Crisis and Disaster Management​

  • Leadership & Curriculum Development: Spearheading the redesign of the Integrated Emergency Management (IEM) curriculum, aligning it with global best practices to meet the educational needs of UAE government entities. 
     

  • Innovation: Coordinating the thematic creation of Crisis and Disaster Management, aligning the previous individual themes of IEM and Business Continuity Management to deliver a more seamless client and student experience.
     

  • Capacity Building: Delivering targeted training programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of government agencies, contributing to a more resilient national emergency management system.

 

NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB

Associate Director of EPRR and Deputy Accountable Emergency Officer

  • Emergency Management Leadership: Directed all Emergency Preparedness, Resilience, and Response (EPRR) activities for the Integrated Care Board (ICB), ensuring organisational readiness for emergencies.
     

  • Operations Leadership: Designed and led the System Coordination Centre (SCC), facilitating operational delivery and coordination across stakeholders horizontally and vertically.
     

  • Policy Innovation: Developed and implemented internal policies and strategies that enhanced system resilience and streamlined emergency response protocols.
     

  • Governance and Assurance: Led a rigorous program to improve the ICB's compliance with national standards.
     

  • Crisis Management: Led system-wide preparedness for high-risk scenarios, including healthcare staff industrial action, maintaining operational continuity and patient safety.

Head of Regional Operations Centre

  • Operational Oversight: Managed a 10-hour daily, 365-day operations center, serving as the central hub for operational coordination across a large region.
     

  • Operational Leadership: Chaired weekly director-level Operational Delivery Group meetings, ensuring joined up working across all teams centred on high quality patient care.
     

  • Team Development: Led the recruitment and development of a new team through a complex change process, fostering a culture of compassionate leadership.
     

  • Crisis Response: Led and supported the response to numerous operational challenges, requiring the dynamic engagement of a large network of internal and external stakeholders, navigating political complexity and sensitivity at a senior level.

  • Program Leadership: Led comprehensive work programs, including Mass Casualty and Communicable Diseases, ensuring the NHS's preparedness for diverse emergency scenarios.
     

  • Strategic Planning: Drove the development of a three-year strategy, engaging stakeholders across organisational and system boundaries to enhance regional resilience.
     

  • COVID-19 Response: Provided EPRR leadership for the national COVID-19 vaccination program, contributing to its successful implementation across the South West of England.

  • ​Assurance & Governance: Coordinated the assurance and governance of EPRR across multiple Local Health Resilience Partnerships, ensuring compliance with national standards.
     

  • Incident Coordination: Coordinated responses to high-profile incidents, including the politically sensitive Novichok poisonings, maintaining public safety and organizational integrity.

British Transport Police

Resilience Planning Officer

  • Strategic Representation: Acted as the strategic representative for British Transport Police to various Local and Borough Resilience Forums, influencing regional emergency planning.
     

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Chaired the Crossrail Emergency Planning Group, a multi-billion pound railway development across London.
     

  • Plan Development: Led the development of multiple inter-agency plans, including Mass Casualty and Mass Fatalities Frameworks, enhancing coordinated emergency responses.
     

  • Emergency Preparedness: Developed BTP's novel approach to adopt the National Inter-agency Liaison Officer programme, which is still used in the modern day.
     

  • Exercise Facilitation: Designed and directed exercises, including table-top and simulation drills, to test and improve major incident and business continuity procedures.
